I Just Need it to Stop
To truly understand the power of Jesus Christ when He encountered this woman, we would need to take a step back in Palestine. Most of the time when we approach this text, we focus on her healing. Today, we are going to deal with the trauma of her illness. The shame and separation are more powerful than the flow of her blood.
Prayer is not designed to get you an answer. Prayer is designed so that the will of God that is in heaven will be honored on earth. Faith alone is not the answer. Faith requires that you align with “His will”. When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, and prayed that the cup would be passed by. God did not respond until Jesus said not my will, but thy will be done. We have God’s will, our will, and Satan’s will. Everyone wants their will to be done. Faith and will must go hand in hand. You do not get to use faith where you do not have authority. Sometimes God will let you see people in their true colors so you can start putting your trust in God.
She got to the place where it had to stop. I wish you would get into the place where you just want it to stop. How can this apply to today’s society? Luke indeed speaks about her disease. It was a continual drain on her life. This is the same kind of issue that saints encounter. Any issue is any condition that robs us of abundant life. These are intrusions. I did not ask my tire to go flat. You have to find a way to adapt to it. This woman did not live in a crisis; she lived in a continuous issue. Most of our issues are secretive. We try to deal with it in our private moments. We do not want folks to know about our issues.
There is nothing covered that will not be revealed. We must come to a place where they are revealed unto God. Things that are covered in public that come to light in private. Secrets separate us from God. We act the part, but we are separated from God. You have to start dealing with who you are. This woman was hidden from God. Issues just happened. It came from a source. You have never experienced what it is to be healed.
The woman with the issue did not touch Him, but touched the hem of His garments. She had the faith to believe that she did not need to touch Him, but His hem, and she would be healed. She needed to be one with her savior. It is not enough that you can be free; you have to want to be free. I just need it to stop.
