Meet our Leaders

Fredrick Riley

Minister

Minister Riley, a native of Cayce, South Carolina, has been a member of the Genesis Church of God in Christ (COGIC) for over twenty years.  Minister Riley is actively involved with the men ministry, teaches Sunday school, and serves as an armor bearer for Bishop Keith Kershaw.
Minister Riley is the husband of Franciner Diane Riley for twenty-two years. He is the father of three young men, Tyrell Boages, Frederick Dante’ Riley, and Nathaniel Frederick Riley.
Minister Riley is currently attending Liberty University, intending to obtain his undergraduate degree in theology. When he is not working at the City of Columbia, he enjoys working his masonry skills, reading God’s word, and spending time with his family.

Dennis R. McCarter

Minister

Minister Dennis R. McCarter is a North Carolina native, he serves on the Ministerial Staff as a
Sunday School Teacher and a Minister of the Gospel. He is a military veteran who accepted his
call into the ministry while attending True Deliverance Church of God in Christ in Holyoke,
Massachusetts where he served as the Youth Sunday School Teacher.
Minister McCarter has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Nichols College and is
currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree in Bible Exposition from Columbia International
University. He is married to Jo Ann McCarter and they have three children

Sheryl Ward-Kirkland 

Executive Administrator

  • Provides executive administrative support to Genesis COGIC via direction from the Executive CEO Pastor/Bishop. 
  • Assist Executive Pastor with administrative details of all ministry projects and coordinated workflow.
  • Keep accurate church records. 
  • Handle all ministry filing of documents.
  • Handle appointment scheduling.
  • Assist with church leadership to help organize various church programs and activities. 
  • Keep/organize the church calendar to keep updated. 
  • Manage outgoing/incoming mail and email.
  • Manage the General Church Accounts.
  • Monitor ministry budgets.

Johnnie Evans

Evangelist missionary

Evangelist Evans graduated from Strayer University in 2011 receiving a Master of Science Degree in Accountancy and Taxation and is pursuing a second Masters of Arts in Christian Education and Leadership. She is presently employed with the United States Army stationed at Fort Benning GA where she serves Soldiers and Civilians as an Inspector General. She is passionate about teaching and capitalizes on her teaching ability as well as her accounting and taxation expertise, by facilitating business and federal taxation courses online as an Adjunct Instructor for Indiana Wesleyan University. She also is an ambitious entrepreneur specializing in tax consulting, church and nonprofit bookkeeping
services.  Evangelist Evans is a committed and extremely hard worker in her church serving on leadership boards aiding her Pastor and 1 st Lady. She is actively involved and has served in various areas of ministry such as Sunday school teacher,
the intercessory prayer team, teaching bible study, the missionary department; YWCC President and the church’s Budget and Finance Director. Evangelist Evans has ministered at prayer breakfasts, luncheons, banquets, seminars, women’s day services and women’s conferences both locally and internationally.

Sandra McDowell

Church Mother

Mother Sandra McDowell has been an active member in the Church of God in Christ for over
four decades. Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was saved at a young age at the
Cannon’s Cathedral Church of God in Christ where the call of her life for ministry was
confirmed by her pastor Superintendent Earl C. Cannon. Though her first ministerial service
was through the prison ministry, she has served in several local and state auxiliaries in the
C.O.G.I.C, including Hospitality and Young Women’s Christian Council.
Mother McDowell has answered the call on her life through her career in correctional food
service, by making sure those incarcerated have quality meals. Her career has taken her from
North Carolina to California, and she continues to travel to where she is needed. In her free
time, she also travels to the C.O.G.I.C Holy Convocation, Women’s Convention, and A.I.M.
Convention regularly. Mother McDowell enjoys spending time with family, including her 5
children and granddaughter. She has loved fellowshipping with Genesis C.O.G.I.C for over

Deedra L. Lee

Praise &Worship Minister

Deedra L. Lee is the Worship Minister and coordinator of In His Presence Worship Ministry, which is the praise and worship arm of the Genesis Music Ministry. Deedra has conducted praise and worship workshops and training sessions in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Deedra is a graduate of the College of Charleston (BS), Columbia College (M. Ed), and has completed the doctoral coursework for Administrative Leadership in Teaching and Learning at Walden University. She is a certified educator with 27 years experience as a grade-level lead teacher, Literacy Coach, and English teacher.
Deedra is the mother of one daughter and enjoys reading, cooking, and drawing.

Franciner D. Riley

Franciner Diane Riley is a native of Washington, DC, has been a member of the Genesis Church
of God in Christ (COGIC) for over twenty-five years. She is the wife of Minister Frederick Riley, step-
mother to Tyrell Boages, and the mother of Frederick Dante; Riley and Nathaniel Frederick Riley. Diane is the Supt. of Sunday school at Genesis. When Diane is not working on the national COGIC Send Judah First (SJF) administrative team, she is actively involved in Genesis; music ministry under the leadership of
Dr. Maxine Kershaw.  Diane is a Norfolk State University graduate with a BS degree as a Kinseiotherapist.  She obtained her MS in Business Administration from Weston University and is a doctoral candidate in Health Administration from Walden University. She has been a federal employee with the VA hospital
for almost thirty years, working as a Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) Facility Coordinator.
When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, church members, and engaging in outdoor activities. Her motto is life
“If I can ease one pain or cure one heartache, my living will not be in vain”

Jo Anne McCarter

Missionary

Missionary Jo Ann McCarter, a native of North Carolina, serves on the Ministerial Staff and started her spiritual journey at True Deliverance COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Fred Baymon Sr. in Holyoke, MA where she served as an Usher and the Sunday School Secretary. She became a member of Genesis COGIC in October of 2017 where she is continuing the path of spiritual transformation.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia College and a Certification in Interior Design from New York School of Interior Design. Currently, Jo Ann is studying for a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Bible Exposition at Columbia International University. She is married to Minister Dennis McCarter and God blessed them with three children: Dennis, Quinton, Kiera and one grandchild, Taylor. She takes pleasure in the family structure, therefore spending time with her husband and children are a significant part of her life.
