Genesis Church of God in Christ

Under Attack

Life ain’t easy. Anyone who tells you otherwise probably lived a sheltered life. Life presents one crisis after another. Before you got saved, you had fewer challenges after you got saved. Isley Brothers used to sing “It’s your thing, do what you want to do.” Most of us, when we grew up were eager to get out on our own. In our parents’ house, there were rules that we had to abide by.

When you are not a believer, you do not worry about a lot of things because you live your self-will. When we come to Christ, we discover there are three wills in place, our will, God’s will, and Satan’s will. Now we must discover which will we will submit to in our life. You cannot have Christianity without the cross. It is important to understand that you cannot do what you want to do and be in God’s will. David is known as the giant killer and the man known for committing adultery on the wife of Uriah.

You cannot look at David without first looking at Saul. David was the complete opposite of Saul. King Saul was the people’s king. Saul was chosen and rejected because he did not fulfill God’s will. Saul became a rejected King sitting in the chair. David was provided by God. David was tasked with doing the will of God. Saul was appointed, but David was tested. All David’s life, he was in a series of tests. Saul's spirit is when you will not do the will of God, but you try to destroy the one who will do the will of God. That is a bad spirit. In Chapter 21, David is 68 years of age. The greatest sin that David committed was not his adultery with Uriah’s wife. His greatest sin resulted in the death of 70,000 men when he numbered the people.

All of us are subject to a push. They will push you to hurt your life. Satan knows if he is ever to get your house, he is going after the head. Satan pushed David, and David pushed the people of God. Was it wrong for David? Joab understood and honored the tribes minus the Tribe of Benjamin and the Tribe of Levi (1 Chronicles 21:6). David’s choice caused a nation to suffer. When your mind is not right, the rest of you are not right. That is why you have to guard your mind. The distinction between God and Satan.

Satan pushes you to do something. God leads you to do something. You have power over your lips. When you say it, you just want to say it. Mature people think about the impact it will have on someone’s life. When provoked by David, Satan disappears.

Before you worship, confess your sins before God. People need to be convicted and compelled by God and not your gifts and abilities.
