Just Be There

Exodus 24:12

Bishop Keith A. Kershaw

Things that can sometimes help us can also hurt us.  We live in a world today where people use a lot of “buzzwords”. These catchy phrases are not ones you forget. Some of the phrases are “Where’s the beef”? “You just can’t eat one”? There are phrases in the churches that are not biblical.  In the church, people say “forgive and forget.” However, where is it in the Bible with this phrase? Remembering is part of the forgiving phase. Naming and claiming are biblical within certain terms. You cannot claim someone as your spouse if they are already married.

We have become accustomed to “church,” not the substance but the form of church. We have become judges of what people wear, what vehicles they drive, or their monetary state. The question we need to ask ourselves is what we intend to get out of the church. Working in the church does not constitute being in the Lord’s presence. It is possible to have a church without having the presence of God in the church.

There is coming a day when the only thing we are going to wear is the garment of praise. There are days that are coming when time will be no more. Love is not an emotion but an act of the will. There will be times when believers will wonder how could God love someone like me. God has played on the sins of our lives but has never got stained with our sins. If I knew someone who would love me this much, I would want to stay in His presence.

You do not understand your lack when you are under your purpose. The real reason man and woman become married is not just because of love. Love is not enough. If love was more than enough, people would not fall in and out of marriage.

When God evicted Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, it was God displaying grace. If God had not evicted them, they would have never had the opportunity to reconnect with God.

When Moses was being raised in Pharaoh’s house, his mother reminded him, that “they are not like us”. He may have been dressed like them but he was not like them. Moses was tasked with something impossible. Leading enslaved people to freedom with just the word of God. Moses has a moment in his life. Today is a moment for you that cannot be defined by a clock. Time is something you cannot avoid. Time will kill you. It’s just a matter of time.  Time will disappear in the space of a moment. It does not make sense that people think at this moment that they are superior to others. When God is going to do something it is under His time. Whatever God wants to do, He can do it. When it comes time to worship, you don’t stay at home.

Our lives are not consumed with so much stuff. The earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof, the world and the world that dwells therein. God owns everything. I wonder how God feels when we say we love Him but we do not love to be in His presence. God wants to know why you do not want to be in His presence. Just be there.
