Now Is the Time for Us to Go

St. Matthew 28:16-20

This scripture is the Great Commission, but it's also known as the church's great omission. In Matthew, Mary Magdalene and Mary were told to tell the disciples to meet Jesus in Galilee. The eleven disciples, excluding Judas, went and worshipped Him, but some still doubted who He said He is. Like the disciples, we sometimes doubt Him too. Some of us are ready to go fully for Christ, while some of us don't want to be inconvenienced by what God wants us to do.

We don't need 100% buy-in for us to go. When we go, we go in the fullness and whole authority of Jesus Christ. Going doesn't mean we won't face challenges, but to go, we must move. We have a solid word, good parking ministry, choir, and youth ministry, but like the Jewish community that was used to people coming to their Temple, we still have to go out into the community. We pray and ask God for increase, but we can't expect increase by asking alone. There must be going because He mandated it.

Going also means carrying something to another location, which is telling people about Jesus Christ. Winning souls should be a practice ministry, and a man who wins souls is wise. We can no longer downplay the gospel. Everyone needs Jesus, from the garbage man to the nail technician. We have been given the assignment to win souls, and we will no longer be still and hide behind the walls. We will go out to win souls for Christ.
