Caught Between Two Names - Isaiah 62:1-12 Bishop Keith Kershaw

1. Selah means pause AND do. August was never our destination; it was our elevation. Rest was to prepare us to build.

2. God names you before you change. We are caught between our current state and what God already calls us — the Sought-Out One, No Longer Forsaken. People may still call you by your old name, but God calls you by your new one.

3. God won't be quiet while Zion is unsettled. He rested from creation, but not from redemption. He won't stop when we get tired.

4. Faith comes by hearing — so watch what you hear. If you hear something long enough, you will believe it. Faith must be educated and informed.

5. You can't build a highway on an empty tank. Jesus says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest," then take His yoke. Prayer is the fuel, but you can't pave a road from the prayer room. The real work is outside.

6. Cast up the highway. A highway is a raised road above the flood line, so it still works when the rain comes. We lift up a standard — Christ — so people know where to run. We build the road for people who haven't arrived yet, even if we never travel it ourselves.
