The Ministry of Mountains: A View From The Top
You need to embrace the voice of God speaking to His people, because God is always speaking to His people in high places. Something in us knows that the mountains belong to God. The song says I will lift my eyes to the hill which cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The songster never said the mountain was the source, but the mountain is the direction. The mountain is the place that provides you with the nourishment you need. You cannot get to the top without starting at the bottom.
Every mountain has a valley preparation. It is not your punishment. It is your preparation for the places you will encounter upon the mountain. What you learn in the valley prepares you for the mountains in your life.
We are pilgrims. A tourist goes to observe. A pilgrim goes to experience something. If you come to church all messed up in your mind, God wants to transform your mind. But you have to elevate your mind and see that God is in control. We are going to take a view of the seven mountains.
Mount Har (Hazikaron) is the place of remembrance. Every little thing you're going through, remember God remembers. How can a God who knows all things need to remember something when He knows all things? The “remembering” is not forgetting. It is to recall what God promised and state what He will bring to pass. God does not recall something without doing an action towards it. God still remembers the covenant. The time you think of Mount Har, recall that God is calling His covenant. God will do it when He is ready. God’s protection is not reactive but proactive. And the Lord remembered Noah.
Mount Moriah Genesis Chapter 2. This is a place of sacrifice. In every promise God made to Abraham, this promise was through Issac. God was asking Abraham to sacrifice his promise. On one side of the mountain was Abraham and Issac, on the other side of the mountain was a ram. Some things you cannot see, but you will meet it on the top. The ram was at the right place, right on time. There was no such thing as a resurrection during Abraham's time, yet he believed God could resurrect his Son. The place of sacrifice became the place of worship. If you have the faith to believe it, God has the faith to provide it. If God has you give up this, know that God will provide you with that.
Mount Sinai is the place of revelation. God called Moses to climb this mountain. We want the promise of Abraham, but we do not want the encounter of Moses. You must understand this mountain is non-negotiable. God’s power is greater than your poverty. You are going to need that Holy Ghost power to live that sanctified life. Mount Sinai humbles us so God can heal us.
Mount Nebo/Pisgah is the place of review. It is modest in its stature. From the top of Nebo stretches everything before your eyes. Everything is visible from this mountain. When Moses climbed this mountain, God allowed him to see the promises that would come to pass. God allows you to see the mountain that He confirmed. God wanted Moses to see that God did not lie to him. We need our Mount Nebo moments.
Mount Carmel, which is the place of responsibilities. This is the mountain of confrontation. Confrontation cannot be avoided. There are some fences too high to climb. You will never win when you straddle the fence. You have to make up your mind that you will not have a divided alliance. You have to be holy, which means it belongs to God. Everything holy belongs to God. Everywhere Abraham went, he built an altar. The altar is not a place of performances.
Mount Calvary is the place of redemption. It is the place of the skull. Mount Calvary is a small place. It is the place of execution and condemnation. Every other mountain pointed to this mountain. Calvary became the fire of God’s love, and wrath was poured out at the same time. Mount Calvary is the apex. Mount Calvary ushered us to redemption. Mount Calvary is still open to everyone today.
