The Flesh on Full Display

1Samuel 28:1-25

August 25, 2024

Sunday Morning

Two kings are on display. The accepted king, David, and the rejected king, Saul. King Saul was the people’s choice and David was after God’s own heart. When David did wrong he did not dwell on the wrong. King David was always seeking a way to get to God’s heart.

You must submit to spiritual things but you do not get to manipulate spiritual things. When you are in the flesh, you are always trying to promote the flesh. When the woman attempted to summon the spirit of Samuel, God was allowing Samuel to be recognized. King Saul bowed down to something dead instead of bowing down to God. We can get so busy chasing the fire, that we forget to worship the God of the fire.🔥

Saul had 15 years to get back to God. Saul failed when he did not kill what God told him to kill. You got to get rid of what God told you to kill. God never told him to assess the item, God told him to die. The flesh must be crucified daily. Saul thought he could rule as king of the flesh. There is no middle room for Jesus in your life.

Saul changes his position from bowing to a dead thing to prostrating to a dead thing. The text shows in verse 23, that Saul refused to eat the food. Saul arose from the earth and sat on the bed. The moment the woman uses compassion, Saul submits to it. The woman showed compassion and Saul submitted to the flesh. The enemy can use compassion to manipulate you to do wrong. Saul rejected the grace of God and submitted to his flesh. Saul’s action impacted him and his three sons. One of his sons was a godly man but was killed because of Saul.
