A Father to the Fatherless
God is the origin of the “Father’s” name. Pater is. A Greek word that means father. Family is named after the father. Unlike other roles, the father is not the branch; he is the root. It is the root from which the house grows. When the fatherhood is broken, the whole house is broken. The character of the Father says He will never be absent from our lives. Father “Abba” is the cry of the infant. Father is the one who stands between the household and the storm. Our father is not someone who made us, but the one who covers us.
Holy habitation is important because a missing father is someone without a permanent address. When a father has a habitation, he stays in a fixed place. God’s character is that He will not be an absent Father. The deepest meaning of a father is that he will not leave you when things go bad. Never leaving or forsaking His role as father. There is a father who always provides for you, regardless of whether you are good or bad. Even if you have a copy that does not reflect the image of God. God lets us know that He will not abandon us.
We beat fathers for not being there. We will discuss why they are absent. There are many reasons why fathers are absent. There were laws that forbid father’s from living with their father. One in three marriages was destroyed by being sold into slavery. The law never abolished the father’s love for his wife and kids, but it took away the father’s power. Psalm 68 inspired the writer to speak about what would happen during black slavery.
Lack of correction is not love. Father's red child and an uncovered child do not walk into the same future. An uncovered child has a deeper road to cross. Father's absence has a greater chance of poverty and a poor educational level. Black fathers who live with their families are more likely to read and bathe than white fathers. God calls men to father children who are not their own. God had a son to be raised on earth. Joseph stayed and raised baby Jesus. The cry that should always come before us is Abba, our father. Lord, I just need my daddy. Where is your father? Let God arise, and the enemy be scattered.
